The Apothecary's Daughter by Julie Klassen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was a really awesome Story of Christian Fiction. I am such a fan of Julie Klassen as I have read 2 of her wonderful stories so far and they are both outstanding.
I loved everything about this story. The characters were very real and the plot really interesting.
This story has everything Mystery, romance, excitement and flawed families.
In the story we meet Lilly Haswell the apothecary's daughter. Reluctant to spend her life as such, she gets an offer to travel to London to live with Her aunt and uncle, to find a husband and experience life away from her simple village.
This is where the story takes off and you are expecting things to go well with Lilly, however, a sudden letter from a family friend has her rushing back home to once again do something she does not want to do.
This story has so many levels and so many interesting turns you will not want to put it down. you have Lilly's flawed family and the search for a mother that left her a long time ago. you have her brother who is not quite right mentally and need constant support. you have her father who is suffering from some unknown health issue and needs her to run the apothecary.
Also Lilly has many admirers, from a family friend to a London doctor to the competition across the street or the wealthy land owner ,Who will finely be the one true love of her life.
expect the unexpected and read as Lilly finely realizes that faith in God and forgiveness are required for happiness and to be able to truly love with all your heart
